The menu is a treasure trove of delights, featuring mouthwatering options such as the celebrated Special Sandwich—a masterful combination of cold cuts and Vietnamese-style meatloaf kissed with a hint of smoky flavor, mayonnaise, crisp cucumber, pickled carrot and daikon, fresh cilantro, and a touch of jalapeño for that perfect kick. At around $5.00, it’s an incredible value. The French Sandwich and Grilled Pork Sandwich are equally enticing, offering freshly baked bread that is soft on the inside with an irresistibly crisp crust, providing the perfect vessel for the fresh, savory fillings.
Vegetarian eaters shouldn’t miss the Shredded Tofu Sandwich, a delightful option that captures the bold flavors of Vietnamese cuisine with a plant-based twist. The menu's diversity—from the Cha Lua Sandwich, rich with Vietnamese ham, to the Nem Nuong Sandwich packed with grilled pork sausage—ensures something for every palate.
Customers frequently praise the freshness and authenticity of the bánh mì here. Malcolm Stephens, visiting from Australia, declares it the “best Pork Bánh Mì” he’s ever had in Los Angeles, applauding the friendly, accommodating atmosphere and reasonable prices. Tawny V, a loyal patron of over ten years, lovingly describes the bread as “fresh, soft on the inside, and perfectly crusted,” and she highlights a smoky undertone in the cold cut meats that elevate the flavors to something truly special. The cash-only policy, often mentioned by reviewers like Bryce Schaefer and Doc Kastro, is a small consideration in exchange for sandwiches that deliver authenticity with every bite.
For breakfast enthusiasts, the shop also offers a tantalizing selection of fusion dishes including Tapsilog, Lumpia Shanghai, and Mediterranean Chicken, along with Filipino-inspired staples like Lechon Kawali and Wagyu Loco Moco. These thoughtfully curated offerings complement the daytime sandwich menu, catering to varied tastes throughout the day and enhancing the overall appeal.

Being from Australia visiting los angeles I've read the reviews about this place And thought I would give it a go and guess what they were right best Pork Ba Mi I ever had the gentleman on the door was very accommodating and friendly would go here again anytime without a doubt also very reasonably priced
The banh mi was awesome. Freshly baked bread and the sandwich itself had great flavor. We tried a #1 and a #3. Cash only!
I've been visiting this hidden gem for over a decade, and I can confidently say that their bánh mì remains some of the best I’ve ever had in Chinatown! The #1 option with cold cuts and Vietnamese-style meatloaf is incredibly flavorful. I might be mistaken, but I detect a lovely smoky note that elevates the entire sandwich. The bread is truly exceptional—fresh, soft on the inside, and perfectly crunchy on the outside. It’s the ideal baguette to complement the vibrant fillings. Every bite is a delightful mix of textures and flavors that keeps me coming back for more. If you’re in the area, you have to give this place a try!
The banh mi was awesome and only $6. Freshly baked bread and the sandwich itself had great flavor. We tried a #1 and a #3. Nomlife recommendation - Cash only!
The place was amazingly chill. I called and the gentleman on the phone was calling me by the name on the caller ID. I was thrown off but hilarious! Ordered my sandwiches and they said they'll be ready soon! I got to the spot and walked in and the gentleman already knew I was there for the phone order. Hilarious! I did not know it was CASH ONLY! Good thing I had a $20 bill with me. It was $18 for 3 sandwiches. I wish it had more meat to be honest but they were damn good! Especially the beef!!!!! GO! TRY IT! CASH ONLY! DON'T FORGET!
You cannot beat this spot for banh mi sandwiches! They are so friendly and fast and the prices are great! I came in on a Saturday afternoon for a banh mi on my way to the beach. Parking is tough in Chinatown but it’s worth driving around. I ordered #1 special sandwich - the traditional banh mi - and it was exceptional! It came out so fresh. The pickled vegetables were crunchy and I absolutely loved the bread. They offered traditional tea while you waited and I was able to sit outside with my dog. I absolutely will be back
Hole-in-the-wall banh mi shop that’s super affordable. The bread is always fresh and crunchy. Staff are quick, and you’ll be in and out fast. Very limited seating, but most people grab food to go. A true hidden gem
